Saignée means ‘bled’—a simple and traditional way to make rosé. The pretty salmon-pink is from the colour in the skins bleeding into the clear juice on crushing.
Partly fermented in old oak barrels, this wine is deliciously crisp and savoury with hints of the variety’s exotic turkish delight spice and long, fresh finish. It is made from the Italian Primitivo grape (also known as Zinfandel) , itself a full-bodied and fruity wine.
It makes a great partner to surprisingly robust food and flavours. Serve chilled and enjoy with friends over a simple meal on a warm, sunny day.
